Jamia Millia Islamia was established in the year 1920 as a central university. Mr. Najeeb Jung is the present Vice Chancellor of the university. The university has an academic staff of total 614 personnel. There are approximatley fifteen thousand students doing their course in the university. The institute has an urban campus located at New delhi. The university is affiliated to University Grants Commission. The university was awarded with the status of being a Central University under an Act of Indian Parliament in the year 1988. The university provides various undergraduate and post graduates courses.
