3. International students seeking admission into BCA degree course will be admitted in university constituent colleges only. However, students seeking admission into other degree programmes may be admitted in campus, constituent and private affiliated colleges, and the college to which they are admitted will be intimated when they report in person to the Director, UFRO.
4. Under a second language requirement for obtaining a bachelor's degree in course other than BCA, study of one of the following subjects is compulsory: Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, Sanskrit, Urdu, French, Arabic, Persian, Russian and German. Since some colleges may not have the teaching facility for a particular language, foreign students have to make their own private teaching arrangement to complete the requirement under intimation to Deputy Registrar (Academic), Osmania University.
5. One supernumerary/extra seat, admission in each of the PG courses, is earmarked for Government of India nominee under specific cultural Exchange Programmes. Only those candidates who have passed the required qualifying examination for admission to the course and secured 50% marks in the concerned subject are eligible for direct admission under this provision without any Entrance Test.
6. The annual tuition fee has to be paid in full at the time admission at UFRO only.
- Undergraduate, Post-graduate and Research Programmes in Faculties other than Engineering and Technology: International students can start applying for Provisional Admission into any undergraduate, post-graduate and Research Programmes from January 1 every year. However, the cut off date is May 31 of the year. Applications will be considered on a first-come-first-served basis.
Engineering, Technology and Pharmacy courses: The international students can start applying from any time till April 30 of the year.
- After scrutiny of the applications for eligibility, the University will issue a 'Provisional Admission Letter' for the purpose of obtaining from Indian Consulate/Embassy a 'Student Visa' or 'Research Visa' as the case may be that must be endorsed to Osmania University and without which no admission can be made.
- Undergraduate, Post-graduate and Research Programmes in Faculties other than Engineering and Technology: After obtaining the Visa endorsed to Osmania University, the student must apply for 'Regular Admission' to the Director, University Foreign Relations Office, Osmania University, Hyderabad 500 007, India, before June 30 of a year, after which no application for admission will be entertained.
Engineering, Technology and Pharmacy courses: After scrutiny of the applications for eligibility, the University will issue a 'Provisional Admission Letter' on or before May 31, indicating the course to which he/she is admitted as also the college to which he/she is allotted. After obtaining the 'Student Visa' endorsed to Osmania University, the student must send a written confirmation of the acceptance of the course to the Director, University Foreign Relations Office, Osmania University, Hyderabad 500 007, India.
- Undergraduate and Post-graduate Courses in Faculties other than Engineering and Technology: Admission to undergraduate, postgraduate courses, post-graduate diplomas and other second-degree programmes is open to all international students. They will be given admission in the campus/constituent colleges of the university/private affiliated colleges wherever such courses are offered.
Eligibility: For admission into undergraduate courses the candidate must have qualified in 10+2 (K12) or equivalent examination. International students, who have obtained their degrees at home in the concerned or allied subject(s), are eligible for admission into the post-graduate courses at Osmania University directly without any entrance test. However, international students graduating from Indian universities must qualify at the PG Entrance Test conducted by Osmania University every year.
- Research Programmes in Faculties other than Engineering and Technology:
Eligibility: An international student seeking admission into the Research Programmes such as M. Phil./Ph. D., must have a PG degree in the concerned or allied subject (s) and must have secured a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent GPA. Candidates who have either passed M.Phil. in the concerned or allied subject or obtained their PG degree abroad are eligible for admission directly without any entrance test. However, international students who have obtained their PG Degrees from Indian Universities must qualify at the Ph. D. Entrance Test conducted by Osmania University every year.
No Objection Certificate: It is binding on every Foreign Student joining this University for Ph.D. to obtain a "No Objection Certificate" (NOC) from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. One can apply for NOC from MHRD while applying to the University, by sending a copy of the filled-in 'Application Form for Admission Eligibility' with enclosures or wait till they get their 'Provisional Admission Letter' and then apply to the MHRD with a copy of it. Without NOC from MHRD the University cannot give admission.
NOTE: There is no provision for part-time research in our University for foreign students.
- Engineering, Technology and Pharmacy courses:
Eligibility: The candidate must have qualified in 10+2 (K12) or equivalent examination. International students graduating from Universities/Schools abroad and seeking admission into these courses are exempt from EAMCET, an entrance test conducted each year by the Government of Andhra Pradesh for selecting the candidates into Pharmacy, Engineering & Technology stream and any other entrance tests conducted for the purpose. However, candidates securing at least 60% or equivalent GPA grade in their qualifying examinations only are eligible for admission.
- While applying all the international students will have to exercise their option for a subject specialization in case of PG and a three-subject combination in UG as also indicate the college to which he/she wants to be admitted. Option when once exercised shall be final and no subsequent change in this regard will be entertained.
- After ascertaining the eligibility of the candidate, he/she will be allotted to the subject specialization or subject-combination and the college by the Director, UFRO. This is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination, option exercised at the time of application and the availability of seats.
II. Engineering, Technology and Pharmacy Courses (B.E./M.E./B.Tech./M.Tech./M.C.A/M.B.A./B.Pharm./HM&CT)
- All international students will be asked to exercise their option for a subject specialization and college while applying. Option once exercised is final and no change in this regard will be entertained subsequently.
- After ascertaining the eligibility of the candidates, the applications will be referred to a selection committee consisting of the respective Heads of the Departments and headed by the Dean of that faculty for final allotment of the specialization and the college.
- All admissions will be made as per the merit of the candidate in the qualifying examination, the option exercised at the time of application and the availability of seats.
- All international students should produce a medical certificate to the effect that they are not affected by AIDS, at the time of admission.
An international student who has been granted admission into a particular course shall not be allowed to change his/her course for which he/she was originally admitted.
Once an international student has taken an admission in a particular college/institution, he/she shall not be allowed to change the college/institution with out a ‘no objection’ letter form the Principal of the college where he/she was originally admitted.
- International students are not eligible to join correspondence courses or external examinations conducted by this University.
- Special English coaching, if they so desire, can be given to students coming from non-English medium, by the English Language Training Centre, at each of the colleges where admitted on payment basis.
- Since hostel accommodation is not available in most of the private affiliated colleges and in the University, the staff at University Foreign Relations Office and the office of International Students Advisor will help students in finding suitable accommodation in private houses. Rents for the off-campus private housing vary, depending upon the locality and facilities available therein.
- University doesn’t have any provision for scholarships to International Students. However, the Government of India grants some scholarships under various schemes and students are advised to contact the nearest Indian Embassy for necessary information about them. They may also contact the UNESCO Handbook for Study Abroad that lists some scholarships and the addresses to which applications should be mailed. They can also apply to the ‘Director, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ISD Section), I.P. Estate, New Delhi 110 002, INDIA’, for possible award of scholarship.
International students should have the required financial resources to cover all their expenses. Part-time employment is not available. - Indian customs and practices are different from other countries in many respects and international students are expected to respect them.
- University academic year starts in June with the First-year classes commencing in July. Annual examinations are held in March/April every academic year. Students have first-term holidays in October/November and summer vacations starts from May.
